"Explore Taylor Swift’s surprise songs during her Eras Tour! Discover which tracks she’s performed at each stop on her long-awaited live trek."
Taylor Swift has kept fans on their toes throughout her Eras Tour, with each night featuring a surprise song (or two), performed acoustically during a special mini-set. The tour, which kicked off in March 2023, marks Swift’s first major tour in five years and gives fans the chance to hear tracks from albums like Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, and The Tortured Poets Department for the very first time in a live setting.
On opening night, March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, Swift announced her plan to perform a surprise song that wouldn’t be repeated again on the tour—“probably”. With guitar in hand, she shared her excitement for the acoustic portion of her long-awaited live shows.
“The goal would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one,” Swift explained, “unless I mess it up so badly that I have to do it over again in some other city.”
Taylor Swift Eras Tour: Nightly Surprise Songs
Fans have eagerly awaited which gems from Swift’s catalog would make their way into the acoustic surprise set. With a whopping 44-song setlist spanning over three hours, Swift’s Eras Tour has become a career-spanning celebration, with each show giving audiences something new and unique.
The tour spans all 10 of Swift’s full-length studio albums, from Taylor Swift to Midnights, and includes iconic tracks that span a wide range of styles and eras of her career.
The Vienna Cancellation: An Unforeseen Twist
Unfortunately, not every city got to experience the Eras Tour's magic. Swift was scheduled to perform in Vienna, Austria from August 8-10, 2024, but the shows were canceled due to a terror threat. Promoters Barracuda Music issued a statement on August 7, confirming the cancellation for safety reasons after confirmation from government officials of a planned attack at Ernst Happel Stadium.
“All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days,” Barracuda Music stated.
Despite this setback, the tour has continued to captivate fans worldwide, with each performance showcasing a different surprise song. Below, find the list of all the surprise songs performed so far, with updates coming regularly thanks to social media livestreams and concert clips shared by Swifties.
A Surprise Song for Every Show
One of the standout moments from the opening show was Swift’s thoughtful introduction of "Mirrorball", a song from her Folklore album. She explained to the audience:
"I was thinking about what song to play first... and I came up with ‘I’m a mirrorball.’” She then launched into an emotional performance that resonated deeply with the crowd.
Another memorable moment came when Swift performed her debut single "Tim McGraw" on the piano. She reflected on the song's significance:
"I thought it might be kind of fun to play the very first song I ever put out."
Swift has continued to surprise fans with unique performances at every stop, from Red’s opener “State of Grace” to her ninth-grade talent show song "Our Song".
